Second Public Hearing
Due to unforeseen circumstances at the first public hearing, held on February 10, 2009 (click HERE to view items from the first public hearing), the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, has scheduled a second public hearing regarding the proposed improvements to Interstate 75 (I-75) in Sarasota and Manatee Counties, Florida. The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2009, at the St. John's United Methodist Church, 6611 Proctor Road in Sarasota. The public hearing will begin as an open house from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the formal hearing presentation beginning at 7:00 p.m. The same displays from the first public hearing will be available, and the same formal presentation will be delivered.
The Draft Project Development Summary Report, environmental documents and other pertinent information associated with this project will be available for public review beginning April 30, 2009 and will remain on display through June 1, 2009 at the following locations:

Persons desiring to submit written statements and other exhibits, in place of or in addition to oral statements, may do so at the hearing or by sending them to Tony Sherrard, at FDOT District One, Post Office Box 1249, Bartow, Florida 33831. All exhibits or statements postmarked on or before June 1, 2009, will become part of the public hearing record. All comments submitted at the public hearing on February 10, 2009, or postmarked by February 27, 2009 have been entered into the public hearing record for this project. It is NOT necessary to resubmit these comments.

First Public Hearing
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, conducted a public hearing regarding the proposed improvements to Interstate 75 (I-75) in Sarasota and Manatee Counties, Florida. The hearing was held on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at the Central Church of Christ, 6221 Proctor Road in Sarasota. FDOT staff and representatives were available during the informal portion of the hearing, which began at 6:00 p.m., to answer questions and assist with interpretation of the project displays. The advertised start time for the formal portion of the public hearing was 7:00 p.m. Unfortunately, the court reporter that was to record the official proceedings of the public hearing did not arrive until approximately 8:00 p.m. Because of these circumstances, the public hearing comment period was extended to February 27, 2009, and a second public hearing has been scheduled for May 21, 2009. Comments received by February 27, 2009 became part of the official public hearing record and do NOT need to be resubmitted.
FDOT apologizes for any inconvenience or frustration experienced at the public hearing due to these circumstances and hopes that the second public hearing will help to resolve any unanswered questions.
